We Love You Dad

  Rest In Peace Dad
February 4th,  1952         April 23, 2011

Oh my goodness Dad, we are all going to miss you.  You had the greatest sense of humor.
You always kept us laughing   But most of all...  You Loved us.
Things that embarrassed me as a kid, are fond memories of you now.
Like when I was 14 and you picked me up from a friends party in your slippers,
your sweatpants with the little flower on them and an old t shirt.
No you couldn't just wait outside like all the other parents,
you had to come in and say hello to everyone.
Mortifying at the time, but everyone loved you for that.
Thank you for teaching me to love God first and foremost
To not be ashamed to be myself
Not to worry about what others think
To enjoy life with lots of laughter
and to love with all my heart.

Love ,

We got birds

I have been noticing recently that when I leave the house, as soon as I open our door a bird flies out
of this tree:      Yes this is normal, but I literally mean EVERY time I leave the house.

And then I realized Oh my gosh there is nest in there!   I was so excited!   I know this is nothing new.birds build nests in trees all the time, It's what they do.    But not always in MY tree. I had been
wondering if were  eggs in it.....   and YES there are little blue eggs!!   so cute
I snapped this picture real quick after I saw the mommy bird fly away....I didn't touch anything, just held the camera above it and......Would you look at those beauties, just in time for Easter :)                        I am so fascinated with nature :)
But now I'm worried.... will the mother leavc the nest if it feels unsafe?  I hope not. We come in and out of our front door quite often ( it's a must... gotta go to work and all )   lol    and it flies away every time.      So if you know anything about birds.....   I'm wonderin.

I'll be honest, this has totally made my day

Memory necklace

I have been wanting to make  a memory necklace for my baby girl Avery.
I was picturing those long charm necklaces  with lots of beads and things... kinda like this:

The other day at  the thrift store I found this photo charm thingy for $3, and lucky me it was EXACTLY  what I was looking for.   So I finally got around to making it.   It was a square frame with a little picture between two pieces of glass.  I had to break open the frame...  pretty easy was only lightly soldered together. Looked like this after I opened it and took the glass out

Then I just used Wordperfect to type out what I wanted it to say on it.... .I don't have a photo of her:(
Her name, date of birth on one side and  a little saying I like for the other side.
printed it out on pink paper and  drew a square around the glass
cut them out and inked the edges a little bit to give it a little " character"

sandwiched  them between the glass and put the charm back together
glued the metal back together with this nifty glue   E6000  great for jewelry making.  You only need a small dab, it dries clear and holds.
Then I put a toggle clasp on  a length of chain with jump rings
sorry about the fuzzy picture

added some charms and flower beads  I had laying around and ...all done!
Another picture of the finished product....  My sweet husband was willing to put it on for the picture:)

Just what I wanted for the cost of the frame ( $3)  everything else I already had.

Chair Before and After

I'm happy to show you a before and after chair redo that my crafty sister did for her home.
I have 5 sisters and she is the oldest.... the one I call if I have a question about pretty
much anything and she always has an answer ( even if it's not necessarily what I want to hear)
anyway on to the chair.   I only have before and after photos because she's a little like me and
got caught up in her work.... needless to say the in between pictures just didn't  happen,
So These are the photos she was kind enough to send me:

Before
Kinda yucky... and is that a rip in the seat fabric?

                                                                        and TA DAH!
THE AFTER :)

Personally I don't know where she gets the patience for some of the things she does.....
I'm pretty sure it wasn't easy lining up all those stripes and

Look at all those little nail heads...   but  doesn't it look great?!

Happy Crafting,

Suitcase redo

I got this suitcase at a thrift store for a dollar.....
Now it looks real pretty in this picture, Except this is just a copy, I forgot to take a picture before I started this project and well unfortulately it did NOT look this good.
So anyway moving on   I decided to decoupage it and now it looks like this
and here is where I need help..... those edges where you can totally see where the papers end and start again??   What should I do there??    I'm thinking of sanding it a bit and maybe painting it with a brownish color to make it look "old".   Any suggestions??  I just can't decide how to finish it... so this is my "project in progress"   the poor thing just sits there half done, looking sad :(

I would love to hear your thoughts so leave a comment!

****update****
I finally finished this
I ended up using a mix of craft
paints to come up with a color to "age" the edges.
and now I love it :)

Something I Love Saturday III

So happy Saturday to you all!   I hope you are having better weather where you are than we are here.
It is miserably cold and grey and the rain is starting to fall as I'm typing.   It's an Eeyore kinda day.      and I'm sure I will be complaining about the heat when we get to July, but right now I would give anything for an 80 degree day full of sunshine.  So all of you who are having that kind of day....  I'm jealous.

But today is Something I Love Saturday and I am so happy to share with you that I finally have a blog button!!  It may or may not have taken me all day yesterday to get it on my page, but anyway its there for you if you have the desire to"grab" something :)   A little shout out to Ashley at Eisy Morgan for posting a tutorial for Gimp.   I love that so many people out there in the blogging world want to help and encourage us " newbies"  by posting great tutorials for making your blog better and more personal.

O and I almost forgot!   There were two things I wanted to share this Saturday, I jogged 1 1/2 miles today!! Not much you say???   Well it's a huge accomplishment for me and I have to say it felt great.
Annndd  now that I'm posting this on my blog I'm hoping it will help me to keep it up and maybe build up to  bigger lengths and a smaller jeans size.   I guess we'll see.

Boston

I know I haven't posted anything in a while.... it's just been such a crazy busy week and this poor blog got put on the back burner for a while, if you know what I mean.     But I did have some fun while I was at it.

I gave Red Sox tickets    ( at an outrageous price for standing room only! )  to my honey for his birthday and we went this past weekend. We stayed an extra day to do some sightseeing and  I  have some pictures to share with you and I gotta tell you....  Boston is a fun city!   Downtown reminded me a lot of home (Philadelphia), with all it's history and the  Quincy Market, ( kinda like Reading Terminal  here) this place had almost too many options for a hungry person :) and I didn't take pictures before the dessert, because I was busy stuffing my face.
this place had tons of good food.   we ate here Friday and Saturday

Look at all this yumminess!

Of course we had to get something  Boston Cream
and I just can't resist pecan pie.... it was so good

I really liked the Paul Revere House...taking pictures inside the house was not an option so this is all I got.    But I loved the inside.... it had furniture from way back when  and  I thought it was so cool and all , but I have to admit.... I was thinking the whole time how nice it would look with a fresh coat of paint and some new fabric.  Sorry historians  that's just the way my crafting mind works.

On Saturday morning we took a bus to see this church....

I have to say I was totally fascinated by the architecture, and my pictures just do not do it justice :(

It had beautiful stained glass windows that you can sorta see in this picture...

and I loved this section with the arch

this is one of the doors      it just makes me think of an old castle.
a reflection of the side of the church....
in the side  of this building.  It's  the tallest building in Boston and there are like a million windows....
below,  I'm taking this picture from inside that green and orange bus you see in the reflection      yes little things like this could keep me busy for hours      lol

next stop Fenway Park.      Although the home team lost, we had a great time!   My honey just has a love for all things sports and he was thrilled just to be at a game at "America's most beloved ballpark"

the famous Green Giant

This is me outside the Market .   see that infinity scarf ?   and you might notice that I added a flower to it.      tutorial for infinity scarf Here

and this is my honey :)   Love him!

and last but not least, we saw this and just had to take a picture...

Avery is my daughters name..... and you can read a little bit about that  Here.
and we had to get our picture taken under it.....   just felt special and right.
